Julie Andrews at Chautauqua Institute

On July 22,  The Sound of Music Sing-along movie at the Bucks County Playhouse transported a packed house of nuns, brown paper packages, raindrops on roses, and girls in white dresses to the opulent Von Trapp family estate in Salzburg, Austria.  http://www.salzburg.info/en

What fun we had.  The playhouse was buzzing with singing fans of all ages who obviously LOVE this evergreen musical movie which premiered in 1965.  We sang every word of every song, hissed at the Baroness, cheered for the Captain, and booed at the Nazis.  However, it was really the effervescent Julie Andrews who continues to bring Maria to life and touch our hearts.

Please enjoy this recent article about Ms. Andrews’ appearance at the Chautauqua Institute near Jamestown, NY in late June.  Thanks to my cousin, Martie Dreisbach, who brought it to my attention.  We had some great summer fun there as children. thttp://www.buffalonews.com/entertainment/gusto/books/article928669.ece
